As an EEA member, API3 is part of the EEA community of organizations working to promote Ethereum and encourage industrial adoption. In the questions below, the EEA interviewed Mark Fitzgibbon on the ways API3 helps the ecosystem achieve the potential impact of Ethereum.
Please introduce your company and you concisely.
API3 seeks to create powerful decentralized applications by providing irregularly controlled and quantumly secure data flows directly to data consumers on the Ethereum blockchain. I am an IT professional with over 20 years of experience and currently work with API3 in operations and the business development team.
What first brought you to EEA, and why did you decide to join?
Joining the EEA seemed a natural way to act because of our B2B focus, especially in the corporate sector. We hope to contribute to the development of standards for businesses, grow our network and add value where we can.
What are you currently working on at Ethereum? How will end users benefit from your work?
API3 is currently working to launch ours Airnode product, as well as our dominance of DAO. After that, we will integrate many API data streams into Ethereum. Later in the year, we plan to provide an automated and integrated platform for using data consumers to build customized / aggregated data flows using their own Airnodes.
We also recently obtained a GDPR compliance certificate through a code review for the Oracle Airnode, first blockchain industry. This is something we have worked hard to achieve as part of our focus on B2B and the space enterprise specifically, to remove a significant barrier to adoption of Ethereum’s implementation as a public blockchain We are also working hard to partner with Businesses and develop strong partnerships to encourage adoption and expansion of the enterprise Ethereum space, and we hope to secure opportunities and partnerships in this area in the near future.
Our most recent development was an exclusive 10-year-old partnership with the Open Bank Project, To bring CeFi APIs for banking on the Ethereum chain, more than 400 of them to get started.
How will the EEA improve your organization’s current efforts?
EEA will enable us to network with other members and look for ways to add value to their operations. We would be happy to contribute to member education in areas based on our expertise and project focus, adding value and knowledge. We look forward to exploring the challenges and opportunities involved in bringing more types and amounts of real-world API-driven offline data to blockchain consumers of Ethereum. This, we hope, will lead to new applications and use case projects that use these new types of data and help grow the blockchain space as a whole over time.
Which EEA programs are you most excited about?
We are most excited about the EEA working groups and learn from other members. The Ethereum Mainnet, Financial Services and EEA Supply Chain Stakeholder Groups cover areas we are currently exploring, and where we hope API3 can be a valuable contributor. We also plan to participate in the upcoming DeFi Stakeholder Group. This is something we hope to explore further as we spend more time engaging in EEA, learning, growing the relationship with EEA and our peers. Workshop and conference opportunities for greater engagement would also help us contribute and learn.
