OVR Using Chainlink to Connect the Metaverse to Real World Data and Events – Sponsored Bitcoin News


OVR.ai announces live and lasting integration with Chain link, the market-leading decentralized oracle network that provides smart contracts with secure and reliable offline data and computing. The current integration involves the use of Chain Link Controllable Random Function (VRF) fairly and transparently select a special grant fund winner from the list of participants participating in the upcoming OVRLand Treasure Hunt. Additionally, the OVR team plans to leverage Chainlink’s ears across the platform to connect the physical world to OVRLand’s digital metaverse, enabling a virtual experience impacted by the real world.

OVR is a decentralized platform for experiences of geolocated Augmented Reality (RA) / Virtual Reality (VR), with a vision to merge the physical and the virtual world with AR. OVR allows users to build, host, and visualize AR / VR experiences tailored to specific geographic locations.

This is accomplished by an OVR dividing the digital world into 300 square hexagons called OVL countries, each of which represents actual physical geographic locations. Each OVRLand is symbolized by the ERC-721 NFT standard on the Ethereum blockchain. The owner of each OVRLand NFT can assign the AR viewing experience to the specific geographic location represented by their NFT.

But what if you could embed decentralized logic into OVRLand NFTs? What if you could take offline / geographic data and use it on the blockchain to overload interactions within the decentralized metaverse of OVR?

This is where Chainlink comes into play, allowing OVR to securely and reliably connect real-world events to blockchains to trigger smart contract executions. Data such as chance, geolocation, weather and more can all be taken from off-line sources and delivered on-line via chained electrical decentralized oracle networks.

The most immediate use case for OVR utilizes randomness to determine metaverse events. However, the source of chance must contain high assurances that it cannot be manipulated or predicted to gain unfair advantages, especially when chance is responsible for the movement of real economic value. That’s why the OVR team chose Chainlink VRF to determine the winner of our 15k OVR token final extraction prize, which serves as a community reward to treasure hunters. and participate in our wider 50k grant for OVRL and buyers. The extraction process will be done using a public and deterministic algorithm that will traverse the sorted list of OVRLand identifiers, with a Link VRF used to generate and provide the random number used to fairly and transparently select a winner from the list.

Chain link VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made using the oracle node’s pre-made private key to generate both a random number and encryption proof. The smart contract OVR will only accept the random number input if it has valid cryptographic proof, and the crypto proof can only be generated if the VRF process is false. This gives users automated and publicly verifiable assurances directly on the chain that selection via Chain VRF is fairly fair and cannot be mishandled or predicted by the oracle, external entities or by the OVR.ai team.


In the future, the OVR team also plans to use various Link Data Flows beyond VRF. Let’s reveal some concrete examples of how Chainlink Data Feeds can overload blockchain metaverses and OVRs.

Imagine having AR / VR experiences not only geolocated but also “aware” of real-world conditions:

  • AR logic modified by the result of a football match or choice
  • AR location information modified by weather conditions
  • AR game tokens are unlocked if a threshold amount of people is present in a location
  • AR / VR experiences are unlocked if an artist wins a Grammy Award

But these are just a few examples – any real-world data source that can be transmitted via an API can be reliably delivered in chains by string oracles. The data can be integrated into smart contracts to create endless interactive logics within the OVR metaverse – imagination is the only limit!
